1. President Muhammadu Buhari will today visit Benue
State.
During the visit, Buhari will pay a courtesy call on
the Chairman of the Benue State Council of Chiefs, Tor Tiv the fifth, Professor
James Ayatse and will also hold a meeting with major stakeholders at the Benue
Peoples House in Makurdi.
2. The chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party,
PDP, Prince Uche Secondus, weekend, said only PDP has what it takes to rescue
Nigeria from total collapse in 2019.
According to Secondus, the ruling All Progressives
Congress, APC, can no longer rely on propaganda to win elections.
3. The Plateau State police command has confirmed
the arrest of a herdsman with an AK-47 rifle in Bokkos Local Government Area of
the state.
The command’s spokesman, Mr. Terna Tyopev, who
confirmed the arrest on Sunday, gave the rifle’s serial number as HC2614.
4. Four persons have been reported dead following an
accident that occurred at Lekki Toll gate, Lagos.
It was gathered that the accident occurred after a
Lexus GX470 SUV with the registration number, KJA – 615DF plying one way ran
into a commercial bus numbered (KRE-302XA) that was just cleared by the
ticketing officers at the toll gate.
5. The first civilian governor of Adamawa State,
Abubakar Saleh Michika, is dead.
Michika died weekend after being been in coma for
several days at the Federal Medical Centre, Yola.
6. The Department of Petroleum Resources on Saturday
sealed off nine filling stations.
This was just as the agency intercepted 225,000
litres of Premium Motor Spirit valued at over N32m, which was being diverted to
an unknown destination.
7. There was confusion in Kogi State on Sunday after
Governor Alhaji Yahaya Bello, announced the dissolution of the State Executive
Council and the 21 Local Government Administrators and thirty minutes later
recalled them.
Report says Gov Bello during the meeting, where he
earlier announced he dissolution, pardoned the dissolved appointees and charged
them to return to their respective offices.
8. Nigeria’s External Reserves are steadily heading
towards the $50 billion mark, berthing at $46 billion as at the close of
business on Friday, March 9, 2018.
Figures obtained from the Central Bank of Nigeria
(CBN) at the weekend indicate that the reserves grew by about $3.2 billion
between February and March 2018.
9. Organized labour, yesterday, warned that
irrespective of several challenges facing the country, it would resist any
illegal and undemocratic takeover of government in Nigeria.
Speaking through the Association of Senior Civil
Servants of Nigeria, ASCSN, labour cautioned those mooting the idea to desist
from throwing Nigeria into anarchy.
10. A middle aged man, Mr. Joshua Angulu Adejoh was
reportedly killed on Saturday while working on his farm at Abejukolo community,
the headquarters of Omala Local Government Area of Kogi State.
It was gathered that trouble started when the
deceased went to his farm and met herders with large number of cows grazing on
his farm. He confronted them to leave but got more than he bargained for.
