A combined team of anti-vandals, armed squad of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) Kogi State Command have arrested seven suspects for allegedly siphoning and trading diesel meant for Dangote Cement Company, Obajana.

The suspects were caught selling diesels from their trucks to illegal dealers.

The seven suspects, who were paraded by the Kogi State Commandant Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corp (NSCDC), Commandant Ayodele Philip, were arrested in Osara Adavi Local Government area as they made attempt to evade arrest but were quickly overpowered by the gallant men of the NSCDC, who had placed them on surveillance for weeks.

Commandant Ayodele told newsmen that one of the suspects, who drove one of the trucks with registration number TWD 212 XA, was arrested while siphoning diesels into two 25 litres jericans alongside two of his motor boys.



This, according to the commandant led to the black marketers throwing stones on the NSCDC officials, thus disrupting their operations on the said date they raided their hideout for the illegal deal.

Other six suspects arrested according to the NSCDC boss was based on information from the management of Dangote Cement Company Obajana that there was illegal siphoning of the company diesel to dealers at truck park in Osara in which the command immediately swung into action.

“Men and Women within the park and the community suspected to be directly involved in the act were aiding and abetting the suspects. They also threw stones at our officers who raided the area,” the Commandant added.

Items recovered from the suspects were 28 numbers of 25 liters jericans with content, 18 drums with content, 67 empty jericans, 40 empty drums, 11 funnels and eight hose.



The commandant, while sounding a note of warning for others to desist from such act, maintained that the seven suspects will be charged to court as soon as investigations are concluded.

The Plateau State Command of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has paraded four suspects over possession of illegal arms and ammunition as well as for armed robbery.

Commandant of the Corps, Olasupo A. Solomon, who paraded the suspects in Jos, the Plateau State Capital, said criminals in the state have been sabotaging the efforts of the government in several ways and must be stopped in all possible ways.

Solomon said, “Abubakar Isah, 30, and his accomplice Timchang Selfa, 32, on their way from Zango village in Kanam LGA of Plateau State where they had gone to deliver guns to one Mallam Saidu of Zangi village.

“A passerby who noticed them invited the vigilante group in the area and the vigilante apprehended the suspects, after being attacked by angry mob and took them to the house of a traditional ruler. The traditional ruler in turn requested the NSCDS to take the case. The items recovered from them included a locally fabricated riffle, 6.8 mm life ammunition, charms and an old red coloured motorcycle with chassis number md 2alz6dw.

“Also, suspected armed robbers attacked a Chinese mining company Ltd in Wase LGA with sophisticated weapons and one Chinese national, Lil Kangze was shot in the leg. Upon investigation by our men, two suspects were arrested, Kattim Karnak and Selchang Zwalnan. Others are on the run and our personnel are on their trail. However, the items recovered from the suspects are a laptop, phone, power bank, torch, 11 ATM cards, ID cards of their victims, a diary and charms,” he said.

The Imo State Police Command on Thursday paraded an official of the Nigeria Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Imo Command, Mrs Gloria Ogbonna, 35, and her husband Chukwuma Ogbonna, 50, both from Umuoba,Umopara in Umuahia South Local Government Area of Abia State, for alleged gunrunning.
While parading the couple before newsmen, the State Commissioner of Police Chris Ezike disclosed that the husband was identified as a major supplier of arms to notorious kidnapper E-Money, who was killed during a gun battle with the police last year.
According to Ezike, a team of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) in course of their investigation of a kidnap case on February 4 swooped on the couple at their residential apartment at Area ‘N’, Zone 4, World Bank Housing Estate, Owerri, where some arms and ammunition were recovered.
The Commissioner disclosed that the suspects have confessed to the crime as well as their involvement in the supply of arms and ammunition to some robbers in the southeastern state.
Exhibits recovered from them include 79 pieces of cartridges, forty five rounds of .9 mm live ammunition, 118 rounds of K2 live ammunition, 2 Ak-47 (with empty magazines), 4 pistols, 17 long chief revolver live ammunition.
Others are: eleven pieces of of AK-47 riffles covers, SMG magazine, AK-47 telescope, filling machine, electric shocker, Lar riffle stocking pin, military camouflage, pump action guns, and a double barrel gun.
While the NSCDC personnel denies knowledge of the recovered items in her husband’s bedroom, her husband maintains that he only repairs the guns.
