Kulen Allah Cattle Rearers Association of Nigeria (KACRAN) has endorsed the candidature of Senator Ahmed Lawan as the next Senate President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

This was made known in a statement issued on Saturday in Damaturu by the National President of the Association, Khalil Mohammed Bello where he said the endorsement was based on Senator Lawan’s track of records and year’s of serving humanity.

“He (Senator Ahmed Lawan) has a genuine concern for the development of both livestock and arable farming in the country.

“For example in the year 2017, Dr. Ahmed Lawan spent millions of naira in procurement of animal vaccines and freely vaccinated 2 millions head of Cattle in Yobe State and he did same to help arable farmers in Yobe North Senatorial District.

“The free animal vaccination was the first of its kind in Yobe State done by an individual legislator”, the National President explained.

He added that, Senator Lawan has brought many physical developmental projects, such as provision of portable drinking water for both animals and human consumption and in addition to numerous empowerment projects to the people of his district.

According Bello the Association is confident that, as a former renowned Scholar, Senator Ahmed Lawan knew the value of education, hence will help towards formulating and total implementation of beautiful educational policies, that would promote education and bring to an end the intermittent strike in the nation’s Universities and other higher institutions.

“Having come form the Northeast part of the Country, where the esteemed seat of the Senate President is zoned, he knows the security challenges of the area, which are almost the same with that of the Northwest and some parts of the country for which if elected, he would cooperate with the Federal Government to find out immediate solution to it, so that peace and harmony would immediately flourish in our beloved Country.

“We are optimistic, that if he (Senator Lawan) has gotten the seat under reference, he will carry everybody along, so that Nigeria will once again be blessed with having a National Assembly, that will work hard towards solving the problems of security challenges that are hindering the development of our great country”, Bello said.

The President described Senator Ahmed Lawan as a person whose main concern is the development and unity of Nigeria, adding that he would surely create a good working relationship between the two chambers that would accelerate decision making process and execution of those decisions by the Federal Executive Council.

Senate President Condemns The Attack On Senator Ogembe, Says It's A Threat To Our Democracy

Senate President, Dr. Bukola Saraki on Wednesday condemned the lingering socio-political unrest in Kogi State especially the recent attack by suspected armed thugs on Sen. Ahmed Ogembe.

Speaking at the Senate plenary, Saraki ‎ said

“It is clear that we are all in support of the issue that democracy has come to stay and there is no other alternative. It is important that we take this discussion on the unfortunate incident that happened to Senator Ogembe .”

Saraki added that, “It’s not really just about Kogi State, but it is clear from what we are seeing that Kogi State is coming to the point where it is a threat to our democracy and it cannot be seen to define our democracy because this is not what our democracy is about.

“We must be seen to be making examples to other parts of the world. We must take actions that will prevent this kind of incidents from happening.

”We are almost 20years into democracy and this cannot be the democracy that we should be talking about after 20years and its totally unacceptable.
“Just as DSP said, it’s not only in KogiState, we saw the cases in Kaduna state. How can a Governor proudly say he is going to bulldoze a house in Nigeria at this time and we are all keeping quiet?! These are things that we must condemn totally.

“On the unfortunate incident that happened we thank the Almighty God for your life and that we will definitely not stop until we get to the bottom of this and hold whoever is responsible for this.

“These actions that have been seen in the local governments, but truly if we don’t do something about it, it is a threat to our entire democracy and we must all stand up particularly now that there is a lot of consideration being given to state police.

”When people listen to this I’m sure will start having thoughts. This action alone is something that is needed and will influence some of the reforms we want to embark on, so we must be seen to do the right thing”, he finally said.

Saraki hails 25 state assemblies on Constitution Review

Saraki hails 25 state assemblies on Constitution Review

Image resultPresident of the Senate, Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki, on Monday, commended 25 state assemblies for voting on the Constitution Amendment passed by the National Assembly in 2017. Saraki took to his social media accounts to express his excitement that 25 out of 36 states had voted on the Constitution Review amendments.

The Senate President stated that the passage of the amendments by the 25 States was a testament to the fact that “with the right vision and follow-through, we can achieve ANYTHING as a nation”

He also said that the process was a pointer that “politicians from various walks of life and various parties can still come together to get things done.”

“I am excited about the news that 25 out of 36 States have voted on the #ConstitutionReview amendments that the 8th National Assembly passed in 2017. “In 2015, when we first started the ambitious process to review the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, we never could have imagined the level of support and participation that we would get from all of you — everyday Nigerians, members of the civil society, and political actors across the country.

“This is why the passage of the #ConstitutionReview amendments in 25 States across the country, is a pat on the back of legislators at both the Federal and State levels — because it shows that with the right vision and follow-through, we can achieve ANYTHING as a nation. “Make no mistake, this is another #PromiseKept by the 8th National Assembly, and it further demonstrates that despite our differences politicians from various walks of life and various parties can still come together to get things done.

“Moving forward, I cannot wait to receive the #ConstitutionReview documents at the National Assembly, so that we can move forward with the process of getting them assented and cemented in the laws of our great Federal Republic. “Now that both the Nigerian Senate and the House of Representatives have set up a Joint Committee to review the #ConstitutionReview amendments that did not scale through initially, we are encouraged with the level of collaboration that we have already seen from the State Assemblies throughout this process.

“I am very encouraged for the next phase of this process. “Well done to the Members of our State Assemblies!” the Senate President said.
