Champions League: Steven Gerrard, Lampard Reveal Why Salah Can't Celebrate His Goals Against Roma

Liverpool superstar, Mohammed Salah, chose not to celebrate his brace against Roma in the first leg of their Champions League semi-final clash on Tuesday night.

Salah left the Serie A giants for the Premier League club in the summer, putting pen to paper with Liverpool in a deal worth £35million.

When he netted twice against them at Anfield, he held up his hands in the air, as his team-mates went wild around him.

Speaking in the BT Sport studio after the game Gary Lineker, Rio Ferdinand, Frank Lampard, and Steven Gerrard reacted to his lack of celebration.

Lineker said: “Equally impressive was that it must have been so difficult not to celebrate in the semi-final of the Champions League and out of respect, obviously for Roma, he didn’t.”

Lampard replied: “Fair play, I like that.”

“Inside he must have been bursting to go crazy,” Gerrard added.

Liverpool legend, Steven Gerrard has reacted to his former side’s Champions League demolition of Manchester City on Wednesday night.

Gerrard has hailed the Reds for their performance in the 3-0 demolition of Manchester City, but said the team needs to be humble.

Gerrard said the squad must know the job is only half done.

Mohamed Salah opened the scoring in the 12th minute; Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain netted a long-range screamer, while Sadio Mane added a third before half-time to stun City.

Gerrard told BT Sport, “The Liverpool players and manager will all come out and be humble because there’s another 90 minutes to play.

“But I think secretly and in that dressing room they will be delighted with that result and the performance.

“I think we’ve seen both sides of Liverpool tonight.

“The pressing side, with their aggressive on the front foot and excellent on the regain and the counter attack.

“And second half they ring the 18-yard box, they were excellent to a man defensively.

“And basically they forced City to run out of ideas.”

The second leg of the Champions League quarter-final tie takes place at the Etihad next Tuesday.

Before that Liverpool face arch-rivals Everton in a Merseyside derby on Saturday lunchtime in the Premier League.

Champions League: Real Madrid Will Win The Title, Ferdinand, Lampard, Gerrard Back The Spanish Club

Ex-England players, Rio Ferdinand, Frank Lampard and Steven Gerrard are all backing Real Madrid to win the Champions League this season.

Real Madrid won the title last year with a 4-1 victory over Juventus in Cardiff, Wales, and progressed to the quarter-finals on Tuesday after seeing off Paris Saint-Germain.

The Spanish giants’ domestic form has been ordinary this term, with Zinedine Zidane’s side slipping 15 points adrift of Barcelona at the top of the La Liga table.

But the team continue to impress in the Champions League and are destined to defend the Champions League trophy, according to three of the biggest pundits in the game, who were talking to BT Sport.

Speaking on BT Sports after Tottenham crashed out of the Competition to Juventus last night, Rio Ferdinand said, “Real Madrid, simply because of the experience and the Ronaldo factor,” when asked who they think would eventually win the competition.

Steven Gerrard, a former Liverpool player, said, “Liverpool have a chance but Real are rightly favourites.”

For former Chelsea star, Frank Lampard, “I have to agree but it is still very hard to predict.”
