Oyo Commandant, Patriot (Dr.) Oludare Adesina Reacts To Buhari’s Rejection Of Peace Corps: Asks Members To Calm Down
Oyo State Commandant of Peace Corps of Nigeria, Patriot (Dr.) Oludare Adesina on Monday reacted to the decline of presidential assent to the bill seeking to make the organization a government approved agency by President Muhammadu Buhari.
Adesina in a statement made available to journalists declared that
the President’s assent on the bill would have assisted in providing
massive employment for the teeming Nigerian youths who were eager to
serve their fatherland.
He, however, implored officers in the command to “remain calm and be
optimistic” saying that “there is a second chance for the bill to be
vetoed into law constitutionally by the 2/3 of the National Assembly”.
He emphasized that the bill would be advantageous to the present
government whose electoral mandate is to create employment for the
youths.
Adesina said “I would urge all Nigerian youths not to react
negatively to the assent withheld to the NPC(Nigerian Peace Corps) Bill;
though it has been hard but, let’s be of good cheer, hoping the NASS
will do the rightful in no distance time.
“Peace Corps of Nigeria was warmly received representing Nigeria at
the Administrative Staff College India for Enhanced Public Service
Delivery which commenced Monday, 26th February, 2018″.
Adesina further stated that t”his is one of the major objectives of
the organisation, to send potential youths for Leadership Development
Programme which will help to develop the nation’s human capital and
invariably contributing to the growth of the nation’s economy.”
